Help me, forgot osmething on finals?
Well, my mind is fuzzy, so these are my essay question and I woulld like to hear multiple answers... (Can be vague) I have bad notes, and I really dont remember this stuff...
How did enlightment influence the world? Define the period of enlightment... mention major enlightment matters, track influences around the world. How were the ideas spread so far? Site specific events.
In france there was a reign of terror after getting rid of the monarchs. Who led this reign of terror? how did he abuse his powers and how was he compared to another absolute monarch. (Like loius 16)
Hobbes:
state of nature -- which was Hobbes' theory which was life without laws "solitary, poor, nasty, brutish, short qualities" ---> life
*social contract*- agreement which gives state of nature (SON) for organized society...strong leader could acheive order and obedience which means giving up natural right and faith to the ruler
Locke:
-SON was good but disputes arose because of differences over property
-form social contract to protect natural rights (rights from birth) people have right to remove ruler.
Rousseau:
-SON good but corrupted by society.
-man is slave to his desires,, man born free....and everywhere he is in chains
-people give up self interests to be free
okay Shanene
the enlightentment triggered more people to think freely away from the church's authority which controlled basically everyone's mind. uhh. people came up with ways of how to live. all of these people were simply philosophers. they explained what humans really need from like birth and how its been shaped around by the people around them...society. i think it brought out freedom of speech of poeple. rulers had rights to bring political power/socail change...enlightened despot.
thrugh books like the encyclopedia were translated into other languages which triggered others to think freely as well. thru trade it traveled and by word of mouth.

reign of terror:
Robespierre organized the thing, and he was also led Committee of Public Safety. so for everyone's safety he started killing people off. (1793 to 1794) 40, 000 deaths; guillotine invented for better and precise killing-faster.
louis XVI i think was an absolute monarch?. he was forced to accept the National Assembly which wrote the Declaration of Rights of Man (born and remain adn equal in rights" governments had to exist to protect natural rights of citizens)
and the assembly wrote civil constitution: ended papal authoity (church i guess)
so both guys had to end their power over the poeple. everything just goes back to the poeple's rights like birth rights and state of nature.
thats alll i can help with
i'll pray to the spirits tonite for you to ace this test!!!
